John Whitmire Advances to Houston Mayoral Runoff, Creating Stark Choice for Future of City

HOUSTON – November 8, 2023 – Today, Protect and Serve Texas PAC (PSTX PAC) released the following statement after John Whitmire advanced to the Houston Mayoral Runoff Election on December 9th:

"Now that the Houston mayoral election is a two-person race, the stakes for Houstonians – who are overwhelmingly concerned about rising crime – could not be higher," said Donald Baker, PSTXPAC spokesperson.

"While John Whitmire has laid out a plan to tackle rising crime and keep Houston communities safe on day one of his administration, Sheila Jackson Lee has made clear her priorities lie with the radical movement to defund and demoralize police departments. This stark contrast has established a clear choice for Houston voters concerned about public safety: elect a new mayor who has the right tools and strategy to tackle out-of-control crime, or let Houston go the way of cities like Chicago, San Francisco and New York City with disastrous policies that undermine law enforcement officers’ ability to keep the streets safe."

“It’s more critical than ever that Houstonians prepare to vote for John Whitmire in the December 9th Mayoral Runoff Election. We can’t allow a radical, out of touch Washington politician who wants to defund the police take the reins of America’s fourth largest city and allow it to become another failed experiment in 'reimagining’ public safety'.”
