HOUSTON – December 9, 2023 – Today, Protect and Serve Texas PAC (PSTX PAC) released the following statement on John Whitmire’s victory in the Houston Mayoral Runoff Election:

“Houston voters made the right choice today by electing John Whitmire to serve as Houston’s 63rd mayor. We not only congratulate Mayor-elect Whitmire on his hard-fought victory but also congratulate Houstonians for putting public safety first and electing a new mayor who has demonstrated his commitment to empowering law enforcement to keep America’s 4th largest city safe,” said PSTX PAC spokesperson Donald Baker.

“As Mayor-elect Whitmire prepares to take office, we look forward to him bringing in 200 Texas Department of Public Safety troopers to support the Houston Police Department to help tackle rising crime in the city. Time and time again, Houstonians have said that reducing crime should be the top priority for the new mayoral administration, and we are confident that Mayor-elect Whitmire has the right vision, expertise, and leadership skills to address this issue in the Bayou City.”

“Houstonians and all Texans will be watching as the Whitmire administration charts a new path forward in empowering law enforcement to do their jobs. Supporting our men and women in blue with the resources they need to reduce crime will ensure that Houstonians and their families can enjoy a safer, more prosperous future for generations to come.”
